Don't Do Bad Things
Don't Do Bad Things
For this piece, I decided to interview one of my family members who is at the age that I began my art journey. I asked him a series of questions and one of them being what he would want in order to have A Better Tomorrow.
This painting depicts a mixture of some of his experiences, my experiences, and what adolescence is like.
My family has always been a huge part of my artistic practice, and painting this was like diving into some of the dynamics, culture, and my own memories.
I think giving the youth an opportunity to express their feelings is breaking the cycle of ‘kids being seen not heard.’
His honesty and awareness is like 1000% ahead of where I was at that age.
